Happy 1 year anniversary to the Tamara M. Sparks Early Learning Center at Mile High United Way! In 1887, a Denver woman, a priest, two ministers, and a rabbi came together because they believed there was a better way to meet the needs of residents. They formed what is known today as Mile High United Way.
Located at Mile High United Way's headquarters in Denver’s Curtis Park neighborhood, the Early Learning Center is the product of a partnership with Mile High Early Learning to operate a program for about 60 children. The ribbon cutting held a year ago, May 2024, welcomed U.S. Sens. Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, and Dr. Lisa Roy with the Colorado Department of Early Childhood as event speakers.
Mortenson, Davis Parnership Architects, LINX LLC, ELS e-Tek Systems, and Elements transformed the approximately 6,000-square-foot first floor of the existing facility into a space with infant, toddler, preschool, and teacher planning rooms. There are mothers’ rooms, flex spaces, and an outdoor playground.
“The bright, warm, happy environment that Davis Partnership Architects designed will foster a joy of learning for generations of children in our community,” said Christine Benero, Mile High United Way President and CEO.
